  1. Animal Liberation by Peter Singer seems an obvious choice. Others may be able to suggest different books which have been influential on the concept of Animal Rights.

  2. I’d like to suggest “Progress and Poverty” by Henry George for the economics section. A challenge to Marxists and right wing neo-liberal economists alike and as relevant today as when it was first written 131 years ago and a must read for anyone who wants to understand why we inequality and poverty continue to get worse despite great material advancement.
